40 years of ACTION MOBIL … the original!
Since 6 years Conny and Thommy (Mantoco) are on an exciting journey around the world with their ACTION MOBIL "Manni". They have written a little report about their adventures and want to share it with us. Here we are and present part 1 - From Morocco to the Ivory Coast.
The new video, produced by Otti Reitz, follows the ACTION MOBIL ATACAMA 6300 through the rough wilderness of the north-western part of Namibia: the isolated Damaraland. The expedition leads through the narrow Khowarib gorge, down the Ombonde river bed with its deep sand and "deep dust" passages and into the wonderfull "Little Serengeti".
The Atacama AROCS 5000 HD was the first 4x4 motor home that ACTION MOBIL built on a Mercedes AROCS chassis. Due to its extremely stable and powerful chassis the AROCS is strong enough to carry a most compact lifting-roof fixture on only two axles. Thus, the ATACAMA 5000 HD is most space saving and with its powerful 530 PS extremely maneuverable.
The proud owner of the Atacama sent us some pictures of his dream 4x4 motor home in action.

The founders of ACTION MOBIL as well as the present managers are enthusiastic globetrotters. In the end of 2016 they put the new Atacama 6300 to a test drive in the rough terrain of the Kaokoveld in Namibia. Otti Reitz produced a documentary about this test trip and included material of driving in dry and wet riverbeds, mastering narrow passages and extreme ground formations and close encouters with the famous Desert Elephants of Namibia.
A client was kind enough to lend us the ACTION MOBIL ATACAMA 6300 to carry out this test drive. It is a rare sign of trust for which the Management wishes to express a big thank you.
The objective of this test drive was to gather technical data and to find out how the vehicle behaves off-road under difficult conditions. Before setting off, technical devices for chassis optimization were installed at our plant.
Blog by Steffi and Otti Reitz of ACTION MOBIL, founders of ACTION MOBIL
More than 25 years ago, Steffi and I passed by this lonesome place in our old ACTION MOBIL Pinzgauer. We are here in the SESFONTAIN Area, somewhere between Sesfontain and Purros, in the northwest of Namibia. At that time, there were but a few vehicle tracks and the two solitary rocks amid the landscape impressed us. This is why we took a break here and later on, climbed the rock.
Unspoilt landscapes where you feel like being on the moon - not to be reached in a common motorhome!
ACTION MOBIL globetrotter motorhomes are built and equipped to master such landscapes. As nature in Namibia is highly sensitive and in many places totally untouched by civilization, we deem it our duty to protect those landscapes and to leave as few traces as possible when travelling through. You should not deviate from existing tracks in order not to leave fresh tyre traces in areas that have been untouched so far.
The chassis of the ATACAMA 6300, in which we are on tour here, has been optimized in some respects and we are testing it now. Technical innovations have been developed for improving the driving behaviour with regard to short and deep bumps.
A three-point suspension of the sub-frame allows for an optimum axle articulation in off-road terrain. Innovative damping elements are to reduce the pendular movement of the vehicle body. Test results and our experience during the journey will be reported in Part 3.
ACTION MOBIL in the Outback. The Australien Outback stands for endless, uninhabited vastness and solitude. Reliable technology is an essential prerequisite for taking the challenge of travelling in your own motorhome.
After enduring heat, dust and physical exertion, you will find any convenience imaginable in the ACTION MOBIL cabin and soon the strain of the day will be forgotten.
